Lessons. . .

David has over seventeen years' experience teaching brass to all ages - both privately and as part of the Essex, Norfolk, and Hull Music Hubs - which also included "Wider Opportunities" in schools. From 2013 to 2015 he was also brass tutor for the Academy East Music School based at Colchester Institute, and regularly coached the lower brass of the Essex Youth Orchestra and Essex Young People's Orchestra.

Now based near Louth, Lincolnshire, David regularly teaches for the North East Lincolnshire Music Hub - helping promote music in primary and secondary schools.

Music tuition is available to anyone regardless of their qualifications, standard or experience. David is available to give brass lessons on trumpet, cornet, trombone, bass trombone, euphonium, baritone horn, tenor horn, French horn and tuba. Tuition is also available if you are studying for GCSEs, A levels and music theory.

Pupils can learn a wide variety of music from pop to show tunes, classical and jazz and can be prepared for graded exams such as the ABRSM or simply learn for pleasure. Some of David's pupils have also gone on to study at leading music conservatoires around the country, to pursue their aspirations of a music career with leading professionals.

"David identified my problems very quickly and then gave me good instruction on how to rectify them. This has vastly improved my performance within my local big band."

- Chris, 54

"We would very happily recommend David as a teacher. David is patient, kind, approachable and reliable. As we live a distance away, David taught my year12 son Grade 5 trumpet online for the Trinity video graded exam, and my son passed with a comfortable merit. David replied to my initial enquiry quickly and regularly provided feedback to the parent as well as the student. We are delighted we found David's website and we thank him for all his support and encouragement."

- Nicola and Jamie, 16

"David has really helped boost my confidence for my GCSE music. He helped me understand things that I was struggling with in class."

- Rachel, 15

"I find that your approach to teaching is absolutely perfect for me: structured but enjoyable with lots of little add-ons that make it all so interesting. Everything feels possible."

- Lesley, 63

"Starting to play trombone is very hard at any age, but at the age of 70 it is even harder! David has been so patient with me and has taught me how to play pieces I would never have dreamed of playing!"

- Ivor, 70

"After a few months of self-tuition a one-off lesson with David helped me to make much better use of the time I set aside for practice. I found all of his suggestions extremely helpful and I was grateful for his at-all-times-constructive criticism. Added to that he was a very nice chap to spend a few hours with. I shall certainly be back for more advice in the future..."

- Tom, 28

"Playing the trombone is cool! David is a really good teacher and I learn lots of pieces!"

- Rob, 9
